UITS Colleagues:
You're invited to a two hour workshop/tutorial of friendly users to give Mike Young feedback before presenting the tutorial to a larger audience at an astronomical conference.
Creating Web Applications From Scratch: Introduction to modern full-stack MEAN development
Mike Young, Scalable Compute Archive group
Monday, October 29, 2018
Wrubel Lobby (MPA), Cyberinfrastructure Building (CIB)
10-12pm EDT

Abstract: Attendees will be given an introduction to the MEAN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, AngularJS, and Node.js) method of web development. By the end of the session they will have created from scratch a fully functional web application with a user interface that is capable of submitting a query to a database and displaying results.

Attendees should leave with an understanding of the powerful features that modern web frameworks have to offer and the confidence that they can rapidly develop and customize web applications suited to their own particular research or archival needs.

This tutorial has been developed for presentation at an astronomical conference in November: some astronomy concepts are included in the tutorial design, but no prior astronomy knowledge is required to participate.
