Fred Cate
IU distinguished law professor Fred Cate named to university's top research post

IU Distinguished Professor and C. Ben Dutton Professor of Law Fred H. Cate has been named vice president for research. An international expert on privacy, security and other information law and policy issues, Cate also serves as director of the IU Center for Law, Ethics and Applied Research in Health Information and the Center for Information Privacy and Security and holds an adjunct appointment in the School of Informatics and Computing.

IU PTI hosts first advanced Ready, Set Robots! camp

Campers in grades 7-12 used computer programming skills to conduct a simulated Mars rover mission at this first-ever advanced camp. The IU Pervasive Technology Institute has hosted the camp for nine years to build interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

IU joins international grid computing organization

Indiana University is now a member of the Distributed Organization for Scientific and Academic Research (DOSAR), a grass-roots entity focused on international grid computing research and education. IU tech experts participate in DOSAR outreach, including teaching in the African Grid School.

IU PTI now organizational member of the Research Data Alliance

The RDA lowers barriers to open sharing of data across technologies, disciplines, and countries. As an RDA member PTI gains visibility as a data providing / serving organization, and exposure for such large data projects as the HathiTrust Research Center and the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute. In June IU hosted the Data Share Program orientation workshop.
